The U.S.-backed coup has been worldwide news for weeks now, yet Congress is still clueless about what is actually going on there. Or maybe they are just plain evil and love to lie about it. This happens so often it can become confusing.
The Grayzone’s Max Blumenthal recently visited Capital Hill to ask a very simple question to members of Congress, is the United States meddling in Venezuela’s affairs?
The answers are astounding, disgusting, and just plain ignorant. One Congressman responded, “I don’t think so, we’re the superpower of the world.” Another representative said, “I don’t know if it’s good meddling or not.” And a Congresswoman stated, “I just think we’re supporting the people and supporting what they are deciding needs to happen, and so I think that’s good for us since we are the bastion of freedom.” Well, Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro was democratically-elected and the U.S. getting involved attempting to overthrow the government with a coup, is literally the opposite of freedom and democracy.
After two years of Congress and mainstream corporate media screaming at the top of their lungs about Russia meddling in the affairs of the United States these same groups, who are leaders in the “bastion of freedom”, don’t seem to have a problem with their own country meddling in the affairs of Venezuela.
A few members of Congress responded with, “That’s not my issue.” Excuse me?! Not your issue? A Congressperson is a representative of the policies of the United States, both foreign and domestic. You are the ones held accountable for every policy the United States carries out. The representatives of Americans do a poor job of representing, let alone understanding key issues. No wonder the world hates this country. The U.S. government sticks a knife into the backs of people around the world and then tells them it’s not my problem you’re bleeding.
Watch Max Blumenthal ask the stupid members of Congress a simple question that anyone with an internet connection would know and understand:
